how many usb-c ports can a Macbook pro M1 2021 support? is there a maximum?

Dear all,

I currently have a Macbook pro M1 2021 with two Thunderbolt / USB 4 ports, which is not enough.

I would like to buy a hub with as many Thunderbolt / USB 4 ports as possible, is there a maximum number that my computer can support?

For as far as I know there is no maximum of USB c ports on a hub.

Please note that you can only connect one external display to this MacBook via usb c

I indeed already use a usb-c to connect my external monitor.

I would then plug a hub into the second for power + several external portable SSDs.

Would that be okay?
