HUB with multiple slots for type A USB ends for Mac?

I've just bought a new mac 24" (2024). Its ports are USB type C. In order to connect my peripherals which have the old USB type A ends, the apple store sold me a USB-C multiport. But it has only one slot for the USB type A; I need at least three.

Can I buy a hub which connects to the mac's USB type C slot but which has several slots for type A USB ends? Is there such a thing and will it work?

iMac 24″, macOS 15.1

There are a lot of ways to achieve this, including

  • USB-A hubs that connect via USB-C and that provide multiple USB-A ports, but nothing else.
  • USB-C hubs and docks that provide a HDMI port, USB-A ports, a SDXC card reader, and an Ethernet port.
  • Thunderbolt hubs and docks (for high-end expansion; you wouldn't get one just for USB-A).

You can also attach a USB-A hub that has a USB-A uplink using a USB-C to USB-A adapter, in a pinch.

Be sure that anything you get has its own power supply, as attaching multiple USB devices (especially drives) to an unpowered hub will often result in them trying to draw more power than the hub has available.

You can get USB A female to USB C male adaptors from Amazon. Put the on your peripherals and plug them into the new Mac or dock.

I just got a couple of these: OITYEUF USB C to USB 3.0 Adapter 2 Pack, Type C Male to USB Female OTG Cable Thunderbolt to USB Adapter Compatible for iPhone 15 Pro Max iPad MacBook Pro/Air 2023 2022 M1 M2 Galaxy S23 S22 Note 10 from Amazon. They have them without the short cable also.
