Screen brightness

I have an iPhone 8 which has been working perfectly well suddenly the screen has gone really dull I can hardly read it. I’ve switched my phone off left for a minute turned back on still the same I’ve gone into display screen is set at light and the brightness slider panel is disabled ? It won’t move. Followed instructions from another user to go into accessibility and zoom but that is disabled also. Can anyone help please?

The guidance below can help resolve issues with your iPhone display:

"If your screen is too sensitive or responds intermittently to touch

Restart your iPhone or iPad.
Make sure that your screen is clean and free of any debris or water.
Disconnect any Lightning or USB-C accessories. If your screen works after removing an accessory, try using a different outlet, cable, or charger.
Remove any cases or screen protectors.
