Airdrop

Hi. I can't receive Airdrop files from my wife's iPhone 14 Pro, but she can receive them from mine. We're both using the lastest 16.3.1 iOS. She see's my 14 Pro as an option, but when she selects it nothing shows on my phone. I've turned WiFi and Bluetooth off and then back on. I'm not using Screen Time settings. I changed Airdrop to allow "Everyone for 10 Minutes". We both also turned the phones off and then back on, but it's still not working with all this. Any other ideas?

Hi bruno75,

Thanks for the reply! Since I initially posted this, I did some more troubleshooting and now have it working. When looking at her phone, there was actually two options to airdrop to me. One had my picture (which is the one she was selecting), while the 2nd one did not. When she selected the one with my picture, it would just say "waiting..." on her phone and I wouldn't get any notification on my phone. However it worked as expected when I got her to select the 2nd option.

I think the problem may be related to the fact that I somehow had lost her contact information in my phone. I added her back as a contact, and now she can select my picture and airdrop works :)

Hey there todda2001,

Great job on making sure both your phones have iOS 16.3.1, and both have been restarted. That is a strange thing to occur, especially since you're able to AirDrop files to her from the same iPhone without any issues. We'd like to help rule out some possible causes, along with confirming more details to better understand what's happening:

  1. Was there a time where your wife was able to AirDrop files to you without any issue, and if yes, when did this start?
  2. Does your wife or yourself see any error messages when this occurs?
  3. Are you able to receive files via AirDrop from other people besides your wife?

Cheers!
