iPad Photos - Can only select, can no longer tap to view

I upgraded my iPad Pro to iOS 16.3.1 this morning. Since the update, I can no longer tap a photo to view it in full screen on my iPad. Instead, tapping a photo automatically “selects” the photo for additional action (sending via Messages, e-mail, etc.). What happened to the tap to view photos in full screen mode option? Is this a bug in the latest version of iOS? My iPhone is not experiencing this issue, and I can’t find anything under Settings on my iPad to change this.

After reading through the comments, i detached my magic keyboard (in its entirety) from the iPad and the problem disappeared. So this seems to have to do with the magic keyboard being connected to the iPad even if not in the 'docked' mode.

Thank you. I have this issue in iOS 17 too and I also figured out it has something to do with the keyboard folio.

Is there a fix to this? So annoying. I don’t have any extra keyboards. Just the QWERTY and the emoji that y-u can’t remove.

My iPad can’t open a photograph! It keeps selecting them instead. AH design. Apple has descended to average. Over promised, never delivered.
