“Carrier lock” status from “No sim restriction” to “Network provider Lock” status “sim locked”

I bought this iPhone year ago and it was unlocked and there was no restriction on carrier whatsoever but I formatted my phone yesterday and status has change to sim locked. What’s going on? Anyone can help me?

I suspect this iPhone was originally locked, and your re-formatting has (re)exposed that lock, or an Apple update has undone some previous shenanigans and has (re)exposed the carrier lock.

You’ll need to discuss this with the carrier holding the lock. Nobody else can clear a carrier lock.

I bought it from Pakistan. And I confirm that it was unlocked cause I used physical sim for 2 months. And after that in Pakistan one have to pay registration fund for approval by govt for sim usage in Pakistan. So after it expired I removed the physical sim and yesterday I sold the phone to someone and reset the phone and now I am seeing this problem.
