Help: Can I return item without original packaging

My experience has been that Apple expects the box and this is mentioned on their shopping help pages:

" We recommend using the original packaging if you are returning a computer."

So, we are not Apple and cannot speak for them and don't know what their decision might be, so good luck. My suggestion would be to return it in person to a store instead of shipping it in a different box.

In my opinion, you should only SHIP the computer in an Apple-approved box.

Apple wants you to be happy customer, so the 14-day returns policy is for the GOODs, not the box.

The computer itself will either be broken up for parts or be re-manufactured and returned to like-new condition, and re-packaged before being offered for sale at the Apple refurbished store. it will NOT be put back into the original box and re-sold, so the box is not that important.
