Why does Safari close when I press Caps Lock on the Magic Keyboard

Hey, I have discovered a real strange behaviour on my iPad Pro 11” 4th generation (M2, Cellular & WiFi) under iPadOS 16.3:

When I enter text on websites (e. g. during filling in forms) using Safari, the browser unexpectedly closes every time upon pressing the Caps Lock key on my Magic Keyboard.

Pressing and holding the Shift key for capital letters instead works fine.

Any idea?

Many thanks in advance.

Thomas.

Hi Tom,

thanks dir the useful hint.

Actually it was the setting “Change language with Caps Lock”.

Since I have toggled the switch to “off”, the keyboard works as desired again.

Nevertheless it is strange, that apps close suddenly on hitting the Caps Lock key, if the setting “Change language with Caps Lock” is switched on.

Have a nice weekend!

Best regards,

Thomas.
