problem with text to speech in libre office

There is something odd happening when using text to speech in libre or open office.

When using the command the reading starts from the top of the document even if other parts are selected or the cursor is placed somewhere.

We use it to control text for a person with dyslexia, and I have not been able to understand the problem. When I sit for a while I get normal function, but then the problem occurs again.

It does work in Pages! Same file converted into pages.

And just in this instant the bug revealed itself. I saved the converted pages file to docx in pages and opened it, and it suddenly worked. I compared them and the difference was the font. So, I tried just changing the font in Libre. I'm going through the problematic files, select all and choose a new font, or apply a paragraph style, and the problem is gone.
