Apple Watch deleted most of my workout!

I was on a run using Apple Watch, and a minute or so into the run I started a Strava run on my phone because I wanted to know when I had gone a certain distance from that point. When I finished 7 km of running, I stopped my Apple Watch workout, and saw all the basic stats as usual in the summary scene. Then I stopped the Strava app which I guess was still running. Suddenly the summary screen on my watch changes and only shows a run of about 1 minute. I don’t see any way to get it back. In Strava, instead of saving the run, I discard it, thinking the overlapping two runs is causing the problem. But no, wherever I look, on my watch, on my phone, the Apple Watch run only has the first minute of my run and the rest is gone! All my stats, intervals, splits, calories, almost the whole 7km worth, gone.

Mia there any way to get it back? And was the concurrent Strava run the reason it did this?

It's something that is out of the normal and difficult to advise. It sounds as though when you installed Strava to the iPhone you may not have given permission in Privacy & Security for Strava to read and write health data otherwise the Strava completed workout would be recorded in Fitness and difficult to lose. Or if you stopped the Strava app but did not tap Finish then it would not save to health.

If you also have Strava installed on the Watch it is possible that they interfered with each other. Whereas I have run Strava on iPhone whilst running with a Polar watch, the tighter integration with Strava app running on Watch may be the problem.

The only way to replace something lost is to manually add data to health app in the iPhone under the relevant activities. Adding data manually will not contribute to activity rings unless done on the same day though it may create badges if relevant.
