Old Monterey keychain passwords

Because of the many security breeches recently I have changed the password on many sites. I let apple provide it strong password option and if Im asked if I want to save the new password I say yes. But many times when I go back to the site it puts in an old password. Am I supposed to manually clear out old passwords, if so how do I know which ones to delete. I assumed it might be the ones with later dates but that's not always the case.

I was thinking of using Last pass but they just had a data breech.

From personal experience, I have had to hunt down the Old Password and remove it.

Personal Example,

The password for my ISP Router was compromised

Was finally able to get in by Creating a New Password ( Serial Number of the Router )

The Old Compromised password was still in keychain

Removed it

Lucky for me - this was all detected almost immediately so the Time Stamps to " Hunt and Peck " to find which was most recent was a breeze

I periodically clean out old passwords from Keychain. I also keep an up to date Excel spreadsheet which contains all my passwords, along with the site names and my ID for each one. The spreadsheet is also password protected. (Which I can easily remember.) I print out a copy for easy reference. This has saved me a lot of time and frustration. I recommend you consider doing the same. This also enables me to use a complex variety of passwords, etc. for greater security.
