Why do shortcuts time out whet setting a wait command? For example, I requested the shortcut to play a song and perform further action after the end of the song (e.g. 300 seconds). Is there an alternative command?

You can also check your current Auto-Lock settings to ensure there are no conflicts: Keep the iPhone display on longer - Apple Support
