Cannot 'Slide to Unlock'

Cannot 'Slide to Unlock' once in a while when an incoming phone call comes in. Happens maybe once a week on my iphone 4 and happened about the same with my original iphone before that. I can't seem to recreate this problem in order to troubleshoot. I have to let the call go to voice mail and then it will open. Anyone else experience this?

Just started having this problem after a year and a half of using iPhones. First was a 3GS; never had any problems with it at all. Recently upgraded to a 4S, haven't had any problems until the last few days, where my "Slide to answer" wouldn't work immediately. It has happened twice in the last few days, and would allow me to answer the call after about 3 or 4 rings, with much reluctance from the "Slide to answer" bar. What I don't understand is how this has never happened before, not once, but is now all of a sudden happening. The only thing that has changed is my iOS, which I recently updated to 7.0.4. The way I handle the phone, use it, carry it, hasn't changed. I usually carry it in my front pocket with the screen facing my leg, which I read somewhere that might have something to do with the screen not responding until it has a chance to either cool down or lose some electrical charge from contact with your body. I'm going to play around with this actually, and see if I can't figure anything out. I am pretty disappointed that Apple's flagship product has difficulty..... answering calls? LOL =]

While I'm here - another problem I've had with only my 4S since I got it is the unlock/wake up sound doens't play, but the lock/sleep sound does. =]

Thank you for reading. =]

Funny. I posted over a year ago and still live with the problem. Even tried the idea of carrying the phone in my pocket with the screen not against my body...nice logical idea...but didn't work...so I just stare at my expensive purchase with wonder and call back after the rings end...seems to free up the slide lock...chew gum and....

I have an iphone 5 and had no problems until I updated to ios7 a couple of weeks ago. Now when I get messages whilst my phone is locked, I can't slide to unlock. I have accessibilty Assisted Touch turned on and this is always responsive but slide to unlock just doesn't respond. Need to restart the phone. This always seems to happen when I have received a message whilst the phone screen is off. I'm out of warranty and wouldn't have upgraded to iOS 7 if I knew this was going to happen.

Hi all,

I've access Apple family few weeks ago and started my adventure with 5S and iOS 7.1! I was really surprised when I missed few first calls, because slider bar "was busy" 😮. I have tried to solve problem by self and I think I found 2 things which are responsible for "slider busy status". I couldn't answer 5S everytime when in the same moment the proximity sensor is covered (ex. front leather cover, pocket) and also screen's detect a touch before an incoming call !!!! Probably you will ask how is possible that these 2 things may occure in the same time. It's simple you're using wrong 5s case or put 5S into pocket which is produced from materials which are stimulating the touch!!! One more thing, we're talking only about "slide bar", but in general is frozen "whole" touch screen.

I hope that it help Apple engineers and they will be able to improve next iOS .
