Apple TV won’t get past the AirPlay screen

I was trying to get my apple TV to connect to a new WiFi but it is stuck on the airplay screen. How can I get out of that screen to connect to a new WiFi network?

If you’re seeing the Conference Room Display message about how to connect for AirPlay, overlaid over the screen saver, then one would need to use Menu (or Back) on the remote to get to the prior screen.

Conference Room Display can normally be turned off in Settings﹥AirPlay﹥.

Conference Room Display might be be locked through Restrictions, requiring a PIN code.

Conference Room Display might be locked/fixed through a device profile (MDM) in enterprise settings.

Would that be the 2010 model Apple TV HD 720p (2nd generation) [A1378],

or the 2021 model Apple TV 4K (2nd generation) [A2169]?

connect to a new WiFi

If you have further issues connecting to the new Wi-Fi:

  1. Try the steps as mentioned in: If your Apple TV can't connect to Wi-Fi - Apple Support
  2. Try the ‘Other…’ option instead of selecting a listed discovered network. Especially if the password has been changed.
  3. For Apple TV (4th generation or earlier), verify that the router or access point isn’t set to use WPA3, as only device models from ~2018 or later support that. Instead use ‘WPA2/WPA3 Transitional’.
