Apple Cinema Display 30 inch powers on only if i take out the USB wire from the adaptor

Hi guys, i recently found an ACD30inch display. It couldn't power on initially until i removed the usb wire from the Dual Link DVI adaptor (ie only the Dual Link DVI connector is attached to the mini DP adaptor)

is there something wrong with the adaptor or the monitor you think?

Try plugging the display's USB plug into another USB port oin the computer. If the display works, then the adapter's USB port is bad. If it still doesn't work, then the display's USB circuitry is bad.

If the display works with its USB unplugged, just use it that way. The USB ports on the back of the display won't work, of course, and you won't be able to control the brightness from the computer.
