2018 MacBook Pro and older Cinema Display issue

I cannot find a connector for this issue. I have looked on Apple and Amazon and the web. Ordered 3 now and none work . Anyone else out there have this issue?

Some Cinema Displays use the ADC (Apple Display Connector) – a proprietary connector that combines DVI-style analog & digital video signals, USB, and power into one cable – presumably for convenience. If you do a Google search for "adc apple display connector" you may find articles about this connector, and even a few used adapters for sale. It is likely that nobody makes new adapters for this connector any more.

Some Cinema Displays use DVI connectors. These are standard, but obsolete. Single-link DVI cannot support any resolution higher than 1920x1200, so the 30" Apple Cinema Display has dual-link DVI and expects dual-link input. USB-C to single-link DVI adapters and active USB-C to dual-link DVI adapters are both available (though you might have to sift through a sea of the former to find the latter).

Some Cinema Displays take Mini DisplayPort input. All you'd need for them is a USB-C to Mini DIsplayPort adapter.

Note that the 27" LED Cinema Display (model A1316) is sometimes confused with the similar 27" Apple Thunderbolt Display (model A1407). The Thunderbolt Display requires Thunderbolt input, and can be distinguished by

  • the presence of downstream FireWire 800 and Ethernet ports
  • the absence of a USB upstream cable
