Mac Book Pro 15" retina display broken

Hi,

Is a retina display from a Mac Book Pro 15" A1286 (used spare part) compatible with the display (broken) of my Mac Book Pro 15" A1398 ? Many thanks in advance for a reply.

Model A1286 references MBPs from late-2008 to mid-2012. These are non-retina MacBook Pros.

Model A1398 references MBPs from mid-2012 to mid-2015. They are retina MacBook Pros.

I will say no, the display from the earlier model is not likely to be compatible.

And if I'm wrong I hope to be corrected.

Look specifically for a retina display from the group of MacBook Pros in the later date range.
