Is Apple ever going to add an Index option to Pages?
Considering even LibraOffice has the facility to create an index isn’t it about time Pages added it too? Is there any plan to do so?

We are fellow users and have absolutely no insight when or if the Pages product team will change their mind and add professional word processing features such as indexing to their original design goal of a consumer-oriented application. Apple's product teams are embargoed from participating in these user-supported, public communities.
If you need indexing, then Pages is the wrong tool and you should be looking at MS Word, or the free LibreOffice suite.

No, not a Table of Contents, which is at the front of a book, but a word Index, which is found at the back. Word and LibraOffice have the facility. You can do it manually in Pages but with the size of my books that would take forever.
Thanks VikingOSX. I realise the nature of the community but wonder if anyone might have heard of any inkling to do with Indexing. I have done so much with Pages now that there is no question of me moving over to Word. I will just have to do it manually if I decided to include one. Many thanks for your reply.
The community hosts and terms of usage here in the community rules out any form of speculation, which is subject to removal by the hosts if they choose. The Pages product team does not leak information (they want to keep their jobs) about any future Pages road map.
It is not a mistake. Apple is real secretive about its product futures, and even if I did happen to know something juicy about Pages product planning, I couldn't mention it here without the high probability of community banishment by the Apple hosts.
Table of contents? You can do that now
Many thanks for the clarification and I won’t make the same mistake again.
Just to clarifying, I wasn’t wondering if there had been a leak but if someone might have heard an announcement that I had missed.
