iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011) - 500 GB SSD

I'm considering replacing my iMac from mid 2011. I am using the iMac for some basic business applications, photo management and internet access (Zoom, WebCast) etc. What would be the best (efficient/practical) iMac to upgrade to at this time?

I have a 2011 21.5 iMac also.

I just replaced the hard drive with a 2 terabyte Samsung 870 EVO SSD, and put two 8 gigabyte memory chips in mine.

20 gigs total…

I hope to get another few years out of it, the new iMacs are limited in memory and hard drive space…

Hard drive was from NewEgg, make sure the seller is NewEgg…

The 2.5 to 3.5 drive adapter, temperature sensor, tool kit, and External Firewire 800 case were from Other World Computing…

I would guess $200 or less total if you are putting in a 500 gigabyte hard drive…

Hi there!

Apple has three configuration tiers of the iMac, but all can be further customized to suit your needs:

In order to guide you to the best model for you, I'd like to ask a few questions:

  1. How much storage are you currently using? To find out, go to the Apple menu  (top left) > About This Mac. Then, click storage.
  2. How much memory do you currently have installed? To find out, go to the Apple menu  (top left) > About This Mac.
  3. What external devices (hard drives, printers, displays, etc.) do you have connected to your Mac, and how many?

Thanks!

I would also look at Government Deals, and other auction sites.

I just had an iMac 14.2, 27 inch, 2014 model, 1 terabyte platter drive, 8 gigabytes of memory, follow me home, $200 from a local school…

Added a Thunderbolt to Firewire 800 adapter, and 16 gigs memory, 24 total…

I got my sister a 14.1 with 16 gigabytes memory, and. a 500 gigabyte Apple SSD, $125…
