I accidentally deleted a message and when I recovered it I was only able to recover from 30 days ago. If my messages are backed up every night, why is this ?

Any message that you delete will be kept in Recently Deleted for 30 days. After 30 days, the message is automatically deleted.

Unless you are using a very complicated process, your backup only keeps a copy of the most recent version of your iPhone. It does not make separate backups each day and keep a separate history of each backup.

Good rule of thumb......do not delete a message unless you are sure that you will never need it again. Users forget how fast 30 days will pass.
