Phone Calls cut out when answering with Apple CarPlay

Since I upgraded to the iPhone14 in November, I can no longer make phone calls in my Hyundai Tucson on Apple CarPlay. Every other feature works, and the dialling sound comes through but as soon as I answer, it reverts back to the phone and I have to press speaker to talk. Has anyone else had this issue? My car is a 2017 model and I am wondering if my USB port is no longer powerful enough to support the phone?

Thanks for replying, Mellie13, and that additional info, it really helps! Let's make sure you have followed the steps Apple recommends when there are CarPlay issues:

1. "Check your connection to your CarPlay stereo:
* If you have a wired connection, try connecting again with a different USB cable to a different USB port if you have one.
* If you have a wireless connection, make sure that Bluetooth is turned on on your iPhone under Settings > Bluetooth. Then go to Settings > Wi-Fi, and make sure that Wi-Fi is also turned on. Tap the CarPlay network, and check that Auto-Join is turned on.
4. If CarPlay doesn't activate automatically, look for the CarPlay logo on your car's display and select it.
5. Restart your iPhone and your car.
6. Make sure that Siri is on.
7. If your iPhone isn't detected by CarPlay, make sure that CarPlay isn't restricted. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions. If Content & Privacy Restrictions is on, tap Allowed Apps, and make sure that CarPlay is enabled.
8. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, then tap Forget This Car. Then set up CarPlay again.
9. Make sure that your CarPlay stereo is using the latest firmware from the car manufacturer. Check your car's manual for more information.
If you still have issues connecting to CarPlay, contact Apple Support."

Hey Mellie13,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

When updates are released, devices and accessories used with the Apple device may also need an update in order for it to stay compatible.

If you haven't already, we recommend reaching out to the car manufacturers' support to confirm there isn't an update needed.

Also, if your iPhone is not up-to-date, follow the steps below to update it. You may also access the steps below or in this article: Update your iPhone or iPad.

  1. "Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
  2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
  3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
  4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
  5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do."

Take care.
