iPhone 14 Pro Max with CarPlay

I just replaced a iPhone 7 Pro with iPhone 14 ProMax and have run into a problem with CarPlay for incoming and outgoing calls. The Phone rings, I press "Accept" in CarPlay, and the call comes thru. The problem is that all sound is done via my iPhone rather than transferring sound to may car speakers. I have to pick up phone, go to call, click "Sounds", hen click "Car Play" to get it to direct sound to y car. My car is 2021 Toyota Rav4 Prime.

After talking to several Apple service reps I was connected to a super-rep who, after a few minutes pointed me to a System setting that fixed the problem:

Settings,

Accessibility,

Touch,

Call Audio Routing,

Set to "Automatic".

Don't know how mine got set to other than "Automatic" but once set everything seems to work fine now.

Hello pfk93,

For help with CarPlay there is a great resource to start with that will often resolve many issues. First, make sure your iOS is the latest version 16.5. Go to Settings > General > Software Update to check. Then, walk through the additional steps listed here: If you need help with CarPlay - Apple Support

1. Check your connection to your CarPlay stereo:
- If you have a wired connection, try connecting again with a different USB cable to a different USB port if you have one.
- If you have a wireless connection, make sure that Bluetooth is turned on on your iPhone under Settings > Bluetooth. Then go to Settings > Wi-Fi, and make sure that Wi-Fi is also turned on. Tap the CarPlay network, and check that Auto-Join is turned on.
2. If CarPlay doesn't activate automatically, look for the CarPlay logo on your car's display and select it.
3. Restart your iPhone and your car.
4. Make sure that Siri is on.
5. If your iPhone isn't detected by CarPlay, make sure that CarPlay isn't restricted. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions. If Content & Privacy Restrictions is on, tap Allowed Apps, and make sure that CarPlay is enabled.
6. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, then tap Forget This Car. Then set up CarPlay again.
7. Make sure that your CarPlay stereo is using the latest firmware from the car manufacturer. Check your car's manual for more information.

If the issue still persists, reach out to Apple Support directly. You can reach them here: Get Support

Take care.
