CarPlay Audio phone calls not coming thru speakers

I have a 2024 Ford Expedition. My phone is iPhone 14 Pro on version IOS 17.6.1. When I get a call, I can see it on the screen. When I accept it, I have to speak using my phone - there is no audio coming thru the speakers. The same happens when I make a phone call. CarPlay is set to ON; CarPlay is set to ON in my allowed apps. I just had the Ford garage download the latest software. If I get a call, go to my phone and click the Audio but then click CarPlay, then I can hear thru the speakers. But the point is - I STILL have to pick up my phone.
