mail has no content in Apple Mail

More and more frequently, when I go back to look at an e-mail - one I sent, or one I received - I find the content has disappeared. For example, 13 e-mails acknowledging 2022 charitable donations lacked content, and I had no information for my tax return for those organizations. Has anyone else had this problem, and how did they handle it? Apple support was no help.

Thanks much. It helps [a bit] to know I'm not alone. This started happening for me last year, so I replaced a 7 year old iMac with the MacMini 2, thinking the iMac was failing. My faith in Apple has been greatly diminished. I have sent a strongly worded report to Apple.

I should note that the "no content" problem is not the only Mail problem I've noticed. At times, the entire InBox will spontaneously re-organize itself. Deleted mail keeps returning as Unread mail, swelling the Inbox. I have taken to referring to my Apple Mail app as "squirrely", and am very reluctantly considering moving to Gmail.
