iphone 6s plus screen goes blank on phone call even when plugged in

This is not every time. I'm in the middle of leaving a voice mail, and do not hear it go click, and I go to hang up the call, and find the screen has gone blank. I reboot the phone and apparently it did not leave a message. The phone is plugged into my computer being charged. No other apps are running. Why would the phone suddenly go blank in the middle of a call?

Hello a Brody,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. When the screen on the iPhone is dimmed, do you have the receiver of the iPhone to your ear? If so, the proximity sensor on the iPhone will dim. However; if the call is being disconnected when attempting to leave a voicemail, then this is not expected. In this instance, let's make sure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of the iOS software. You can locate that information by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

If the iPhone is already updated, we recommend to contact Apple Support, as they can review this further. You can contact them by using this link here: Apple - Get Support

Kind regards.
