I have thunderbolt 4 ports on the new Mac mini. But my iPad has USB c and my older macs have USB A and my screen is an old LED TV connected via HDMI.
Is there any benefit to buying any thunderbolt 4 cables at this time? Or should I wait until I have another device with thunderbolt?

If you currently don't own any Thunderbolt devices, then there really is no need to get a Thunderbolt cable. In the future, if you add a 4K (or higher resolution) display to your system, or get a Thunderbolt capable external hard drive or storage system, then using a Thunderbolt connection would be recommended since it will offer you the best resolution and speeds.
