No, it is not necessary to install any antivirus. iOS already has very good security built in. The only thing you need to remember is a good passcode for your iPhone, preferably 6 digits, and a good password for your Apple ID.


All the apps you download from the App Store have been checked from end to end by Apple, so they are safe. Beyond that, no app can "change" anything outside the app. That is no apps have access to the iOS system. A so-called "Sandbox" system, so the chance that your iPhone can be infected with viruses is almost non-existent, unless you jailbreak your iPhone. So don't do it. Also, make sure to keep your iPhone up to date.


What you need to be aware of is "Phising" - e.g. emails, SMS messages or web pages that claim eg. that your iPhone is infected, and if you enter your card details, they can help - that kind of thing, you just have to delete immediately and avoid reacting to. However, this will not infect your iPhone, but only aims to lure information out of you.
