Crackling during playback iTunes 12.12.7

Hello all,

I have seen some issues with this in the past but the threads are all pretty old.

I recently got a new laptop and re-downloaded iTunes (latest version, 64bit on Windows 11). When playing songs back, they are crackling as if being played via vinyl. I do not have any playback issues in anything besides iTunes. Any ideas?

Hey akw17,

What type of music are you playing in iTunes? For example, is it music you've imported from another source or purchased directly in iTunes.

Try running Diagnostics in iTunes to see if any issues are found: Gather and use iTunes Diagnostics in iTunes for Windows - Apple Support

"Make sure that you have the latest version of iTunes.
Open iTunes.
From the menu bar at the top of the iTunes window, choose Help > Run Diagnostics.
Choose one or all of the available tests, and click Next.
Run the tests. After you finish each test, you might see links to support articles that can help you resolve the issues."
