Why are there line numbers (white numbers on black background) in the window that opens when Safari (or any other item in the menu bar) is opened? Mac mini M1 running Ventura. This just started - don't know if I did anything to cause it.

I found the problem. I had "Dictation" turned on and it was putting the line numbers on each item. Turning off Dictation eliminated the line numbers. Thanks for your help.
Do you have a menu item called "Develop"? Check the page source item in there and turn it off. If that is that page numbering you're speaking of. Choose, "Close Web Inspector"
If you want to disable/enable the Develop menu:

Did you inadvertently turn on voice control under accessibility in your settings?
A screenshot without showing personal information would be helpful. Showing these line numbers you speak of.
I have Develop in the menu bar. The numbers I am talking about are not page numbers they are line numbers in the windows that show up when I click on an item in the menu bar. I have "Show Web Inspector" but not Close.
Here is a window, but the numbers go away when I try to get the screen shot. Each line in this window, except for the grayed out lines have a number (1 thru X) just to the left of the line. Each number is white with a black background.
