IPad USB port is unreliable

All of newer iPads use a USB-C port for all charging and external connections. Unfortunately this USB-C port is very unreliable. I have an iPad Pro 11 inch, 2nd Generation; After only two and a half years of use, it has become increasingly difficult to get a reliable connection with any charger, regardless of manufacturer. This also applies to attempting a hardware connection to iTunes as well! How can this increasingly frustrating problem be solved?

If you are experiencing connection difficulties, have you considered purchasing a new USB-C cable?

Should the problem persist with a new cable, you might then reasonably conclude that the iPad’s USB-C port may have suffered physical damage - and may require repair. You might be best advised to visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to test and assess your iPad and its USB-C port:
