Hi Phil! Thanks for answering my question. I did not know that KH iPhone models were sold in China. I got my information from https://www.theiphonewiki.com/wiki/Model_Regions that these phones were sold in Korea.
From what I found its sold ion both places, China and South Korea: iPhone Country codes - makeuseof.com
My phone came with only one slot in the SIM card tray, so I can’t use two SIMs. The phone also comes with an EID which is used for identification of eSIM compatible phones. I did have an iPhone XR that came from Hong Kong and that came with two SIM slots and no EID.
That is even stranger. iPhone's meant for China should include a double sim tray.
Could it be that the hardware supports eSIM but was blocked by software because it was to be sold in China?
Possible, but then it should have a double sided sim tray, unless someone changed. Did you buy this iPhone used?
Was it properly restored to factory settings before you bought it?
Maybe a software glitch. Have you tried to restore it to factory settings?
If nothing else works, you may need to take it to an Apple Store to get it looked at. There may be something wrong.
