Hi there maira40,

Thank you for posting to Apple Support Communities.

We understand that you'd like to create your own Apple ID and start using it on your new iPhone. We can help.

We want to point out there is the possibility of data loss, so if you don't feel comfortable doing them on your own we recommend visiting an Apple Authorized Service Provider or Apple Store for assistance. You can locate them here: Find Locations - Apple or Contact Apple Support

  1. You're going to want to make sure that you have a back up of your data from the previous device. Locate backups of your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support
  2. If you don't have a current backup of your data, you're should create one: How to back up your iPhone or iPad with iCloud - Apple Support
  3. Create your new Apple ID (ideally using a Mac or PC, if available): How to create a new Apple ID - Apple Support
  4. Restore the previous backup using the prior Apple ID onto your new iPhone: Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support
  5. Once the iPhone is completely restored, you can sign out of iCloud (Apple ID). Make sure to choose the option to "keep a copy of the data" on the device: Sign out of iCloud on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV, or Mac - Apple Support
  6. Finally, sign in with your new Apple ID on your iPhone: Sign in to iCloud on all your devices - Apple Support

Let us know if you have any questions.

Take care.
