do keyboard covers produce overheating in MacBook Pro mid 2012?

do keyboard covers produce overheating in MacBook Pro mid-2012?

Are these silicone covers recommended? Do this covers compromised heating on these old but great machines?

What about newer MacBooks? M1 Pro M2 Pro?

The 13-inch 2012 non-Retina Macbook Pros, indeed most newer 13-inch MBPs as well, pull some of their cooling air in through the keyboard. To me, using a cover is a risk of overheating as well as the risks mentioned the article FoxFirth links.


This Apple article of overheating is pretty concise:


Keep your Mac laptop within acceptable operating temperatures - Apple Support



When I worked in law enforcement, we called that a "clue."
