Why can't I remove Calendar App from Apple Watch

Having the calendar app on my watch is now forcing me to add a passcode because my work email is synced to my iphones calendar app. I have read that it is caused by my employers IT dept adding these settings. My IT dept says that nothing has changed and they don't enforce passcodes on phones either let alone apple watches so it is not on their end. I've read articles even from apple that the built in apps can be removed, however, the instructions they give do not work. I have been trying to get this figured out for over a month and cannot find the answer. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
