Number registered to Apple ID but not associated with this phone

Someone on another thread found a fix that worked for me. I tried everything else but none fixed the problem This one did!

I HAD the same issue. I tried a lot of steps and finally saw a simple statement that WORKED! I clicked where “in red” it said to remove the number from iMessage and FaceTime. Then I backed out of both iMessage and FaceTime and went back into them and selected my phone number again when it popped up. THIS FIXED IT in 1 minute after I had spent 45 minutes going through threads and turning stuff off and on, and rebooting several times. I hope this can help someone. It should be at the top of the “fixes”

I carried out the same procedure as above but also had to click on :

Settings , Messages , Send & Receive, then ticked my mobile number.

this sorted the problem for me

This just worked for me:-

Try doing a Network Reset as follows (applies to iOS 15+):

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings

Doing this will delete any saved Wi-Fi networks and their passwords you have joined.

I also had this issue and have found an easier fix. Just remove number from iMessage, then pop sim out and back in. Worked a treat for me after nothing else would.

worked for me too once i switched facebook and imessages back on they came up with the correct number which once selected on both it updated my number

This is my 1st comment in this community, also just want to help everyone experienced the same issue.

Go to Settings -> Search My Number -> Click on My Number and put in your correct number -> Turn off iMessage & FaceTime and turn back on -> Wait for 2 mininutes -> Choose your phone number -> DONE

I can confirm resetting the network worked.

My number is now showing up as the correct one, transferred via PAC

This is not a solution at least not currently.

Just remove phone number as the prompt mentions in Messages settings, exit, go back into Messages settings and select the phone number

Otherwise all this does is clear out all network settings like WiFi connections

All you need do is turn off the phone for about 10 seconds and turn it back. Then go to settings>FaceTime and turn it on then click on your number to be registered

Baldkeeper- this worked perfectly. The problem began after using another providers temporary vacation SIM card. The iPhone registered the new European SIM phone # into my iPhone and erased the original # but only for the FaceTime etc. Thus when reverting to the original SIM the iPhone did not recognize my everyday number for iMessage and FaceTime, just remembered the European number. . Your suggestion worked immediately but I did have to reinstall my original phone # for iMessage etc to work. My secondary email address contact always was there.
