Sound is noisy when recorded with an external microphone with lighting connector

Hi,

I am currently using an Anchor Work M650 on my iPhone and the recording has a high noise floor. When I use the M650 on my MacBook Air M1 via USB-C, the audio is without noise floor.

The noise floor also occurs with the RØDE Video Mic II with the Lightning port. I mention this because it is not a wireless microphone, and therefore there can be no overlapping of frequencies.

How do I get the noise floor under control on the iPhone?

Thanks,

Heiko

Hi,

Thank you for taking your time.

I contacted Røde at the time to solve the problem. It persisted with a total of 4 microphones connected directly to the Lightning port.

I have of course already contacted Anker and I have tested it with several iPhones. It was noisy on all of them differently, but it was much more noisy than when I connected the microphones to the Mac.

So I think it seems to be a general iPhone Lighting problem.

I'll record with the Mac for now and put the iPhone aside. Let's see if the upcoming iPhone does a better job.

Take care.

Heiko
