My iphone 12 won't pick up sound from wireless lavalier mic, but it works with son's iphone 12.

It's strange. I have a new wireless lavalier plug-and-play mic that works perfectly well with other iphones, just not mine. I can't find or think of any setting that might be preventing this. Any ideas?

Try some of these...

  1. Confirm that the wireless lavalier mic is compatible with your iPhone 12. Sometimes, certain mics might have compatibility issues with specific models due to different hardware configurations.
  2. Go to Settings > Bluetooth, find the wireless lavalier mic in the list of devices, and tap the "i" icon next to it. Then, select "Forget This Device." Afterward, try reconnecting the mic to your iPhone.
  3. A simple restart can sometimes resolve connectivity issues. Turn off your iPhone and then turn it back on.
  4. If you're using a specific app to record with the lavalier mic, ensure that the app has permission to access the microphone. Go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone, then check if the app is listed and enabled.

also trying resetting the settings, following these

  1. Audio Settings:
    • Plug in the lavalier microphone.
    • Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics.
    • Check the "Headphone Safety" section and ensure it's configured correctly.

and if its a bluetooth,

reset the device there, forget the device and stsrt the pairing process again, but def make sure the option "headphone" wasnt selected by accident the first time you attached the mic, thats why i was wanting you to reset the sounds and haptices.. Below is how ai explains how to go thru each setting and make sure it is set up properly

To check and configure the "Headphone Safety" section and ensure your iPhone 14 recognizes your Levn Lavalier Microphone correctly, follow these steps:

  1. Check Headphone Safety Settings:
    • Go to Settings on your iPhone.
    • Select Sounds & Haptics.
    • Scroll down to Headphone Safety.
  • Ensure that the settings here do not interfere with the recognition of your microphone. The primary settings to check are:
      • Headphone Notifications: Make sure this is toggled off if it keeps identifying the microphone as headphones.
  • Reduce Loud Sounds: This can also be toggled off temporarily to see if it helps with the recognition issue.
  1. Disconnect and Reconnect the Microphone:
    • Unplug the lavalier microphone from your iPhone.
    • Wait for a few seconds and then plug it back in.
  1. Audio Settings in Control Center:
    • Open the Control Center by swiping down from the top-right corner of the screen.
    • Tap on the AirPlay icon (usually looks like a small triangle with circles or waves).
    • Ensure that the correct audio output is selected. It should show your microphone if it’s recognized correctly. If it shows "Headphones," try selecting another option and then re-selecting your microphone.
  1. Test with a Different App:
    • Open an app like Voice Memos or GarageBand that allows you to select the input device manually.
    • Try recording a short clip to see if the microphone is recognized correctly.
  1. Reset Audio Routing Settings:
    • Go to Settings > Accessibility.
    • Tap on Touch.
    • Scroll down to Call Audio Routing.
    • Set this to Automatic if it isn’t already. This ensures that the device selects the correct audio route for each accessory.

By following these steps, you can ensure that your iPhone 14 correctly recognizes your Levn Lavalier Microphone as a microphone and not as headphones. If the issue persists, a full restart or contacting Apple Support might be necessary.

GOOD LUCK and please, if anyone benefits from this, please let me know, thanks!!!
