I was making a video and my phone had a message saying my storage was full, but it’s not. Why did this happenIDK

Why did I get a notification that my phone storage was full and turned off the video I was making. I have plenty of storage on my phone and I have iCloud with 2 tb, so I am confused about the message and why it turned off when I have the storage needed. Anyone else have this problem or do you know why it turned off and what happened to the device not knowing that I have the necessary storage to create a longer video?

thank you,

cindy

this is an iPhone mini 12, that I’m referring to in my question.

Re: "I have plenty of storage on my phone and I have iCloud with 2 tb",

Your operating system needs plenty of memory / storage in which to operate smoothly. Eg: Making a video makes use of the free memory / storage available.

Seems the iPhone was warning you it would need to delete items from the iPhone in order to operate if you continued making the video, a memory-intensive task.

Only the memory / storage on your iPhone counts when making a video on it. The iCloud storage doesn't count. (iCloud's main job is to sync content across devices.)

You might want to double-check to see if you have at least 7 or 8 Gb free storage needed for normal operation; you may need to allow more for intensive video work.
