After iPhone update all photos are gone from it, I’m very upset, is it possible to restore somehow?

first, if you sync with iCloud, check iCloud.com/photos to see what photos are available in the cloud. You may just need to sync.
These photos were not saved to iCloud, they were only available on this iPhone. Couple of years ago when I was using the phone suddenly it turned off by itself, then I was not able to turn it on for couple of years. Now I decided to give it one more chance, it was stuck on logo when I tried to turn it on. Then I read that it is possible to update the iPhone to be able to turn it on, so I did it, after the update all valuable photos from this device are gone.
Sounds like they are irrecoverable.
