Apple reserves the right to substitute components at any time. There is no guarantee of exactly what components will be used in any particular MacBook Pro -- the only promise is that it meets Apple's specifications.


The components representing the SSD drive controller are inside Apple proprietary chips, soldered to the board.

The components representing the SSD drive data blocks are likely to be commodity parts, but are also soldered to the board.


None of the components on a MacBook Pro mainboard are replaceable.
