This is the first time for me to set up a computer and when I tried to 'Create a Computer Account' in my name, it said that name was unavailable. I tried several variations then I gave up and shut the computer down. When I started it up again, this is what the screen looked like. What do I do now?

From the screenshot shown, it appears you were able to successfully create the account. You will need to log in with the created account to access your desktop. We've include the MacOS User guide on getting to know how to use various features on your Mac.
