iOS 16.4 - Spotlight (homescreen search) - Keyboard coming up with delay

I've just updated my iPhone (14 Pro Max) to iOS 16.4

One thing I noticed immediately - and which drives me nuts is:

just after the Update (16.4):
when you're on a HomeScreen and you pull down in order to bring up Spotlight (universal search)
Then the keyboard does not come up immediately. There is like half a second delay until the keyboard comes up and you can type (i.e. use the Spotlight search)

It is not 100% consistent i.e. the delay for bringing up the keyboard is like 80% in some repeat cases the keyboard comes up immediately.

(restarted the Phone multiple times but the issue persists)

Do you observe that issue as well? Is it a bug or a feature? potential fix?

My 6S is faster than my 12 Pro Max.

And this hits even harder all after Macbook and Apple TV problems. I’m getting furios 🤬

@OP

Try to turn OFF reduced motion (i have it turned ON because i hate motion animation) but it has helped me. QUASI fix until they figure out a real solution.

I mean I tried turning off "Reduce Motion" but then the overall animations bug me. And I feel rg. the Keyboard: Also the behavior with "Reduce Motion OFF" is not consistent. Sometimes the keyboard comes up instantly sometimes it takes a while and a broken animation.

Apple should fix this! The Keyboard came up fine in iOS 15.x!!

iOS 16.5 and this annoying bug is still there. This is really poor software quality by Apple :(

by any chance has anyone submitted a bug report to Apple?

Yes, but with stupid animations at least you get 8/10 times a good keyboard with almost no delay. Without animation it is always like 5 seconds lag. It isn't the most elegant solution but it quasi-works.

Sometimes I ask myself whether they even have quality control.
