space for backup

My last iCloud backup was successfully done on March 11, that is, 16 days ago. It says the size was 2.96GB. I've been trying to back it up again, but it tells me I need +1.99. This is insane! I haven't really added much in the last 2 weeks and I need more than half as much space than my last backup????? I've been deleting tons of pictures and the amount doesn't change. My last backup includes files and pics since 2010, for a total of 2.96GB and to have a new back up adding the last 2 weeks I need 2GB? This can't be right. I haven't added anything.

Please, help! I can't back it up because I don't have all that space in iCloud.

Hi sdfitgirl,

Since your last backup, have you changed devices or reset your iPhone?

If you're looking at the last backup and it doesn't say "This iPhone" next to the device backup, you need to delete your old backup and make a backup after that. This is because you have a duplicate backup or a backup from an old device using the space. Deleting will allow you to make a new backup.

If instead you have a backup size that's increased, your options are to either buy a storage plan with iCloud + or backup using your computer instead.
