Just updated watch os 9.4 with iphone, too. AssistiveTouch for apple pay is not working correctly. It was working fine with previous version yesterday. Cannot confirm with AssistiveTouch.

Good news, this issue has been solved in the newly released watchos 9.5 RC! I have finally gotten it to work. Still, no changelog has been released to mention this fix yet.

Same here! The issue presented itself immediately after upgrading each of my Apple Watches (Ultra and S7) to watchOS 9.4. To be able to actually use Apple Pay again (with a double-click of the side button), I needed to force restart each Watch after turning off "Confirm with Assistive Touch" in the Accessibility settings. Hope it's fixed in the next update!

Went to buy bread without phone or card and when I tried assistive touch to pay it did not work. Tried double click that too did not work. I was about to abandon my shopping and a Good Samaritan behind me in the queue said I will pay for you. I resisted but she just walked past me and tap with her phone and paid. I felt ashamed of myself. Got home tried all stuffs mentioned above and none work. Removed assistive touch and confirm with watch and forced restart the watch and double click now working. I don’t want to go near assistive touch now. Apple do something with this bug. Assistive touch was my baby, loved it so much I will go out without my phone or a bank card and feel safe.

My personal favourite and the most useful feature of Apple Watch is now basically obsolete. 2 Apple Watches that I use interchangeably are no longer capable of Apple Pay, whether through gestures or double click. Had both reset, set up as new, deleted and added cards - all in vain. All after the spectacular failure called 9.4 update. I use the watch to pay for staff parking, which means I now spend more time fiddling with the machine each morning, instead of just waving my wrist, let alone all other purchases than now involve making faces as my phone. For a whole day I thought it was something I must’ve done wrong. Apple Watch 7 and 4, iPhone 14 pro max.
