Issues merging calls with only one person

Hi there,

I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max, and my office forwards work calls to my cell. When I have to connect to a coworker, I will merge the calls. There is one person in my office that I consistently have issues merging calls with (they have an iPhone 14) -- it will either say that person is on the call but we cannot hear them and they cannot hear us, or it will drop them from the call altogether. It almost always works when I call them back and reconnect, but it's highly frustrating that it happens so frequently. I don't have any issues merging calls with any other of my coworkers. Does anyone have a sense of what is happening here?

Thanks!

Hi ladynaseif1,

If you're able to merge calls with anyone else without issue, the problem is likely not with your device but theirs.

It's hard to say what the specific issue is, however most anything cellular related would be handled by their carrier. It may be possible they don't properly support merging a call. If possible have that person contact their carrier to confirm if there's any additional service they need for this feature.

Another potential is to confirm they're updated. While unlikely this is an iOS issue, if they're out of date, checking for updates may address any potential bugs or unexpected behavior as well.

Cheers!
