2020 13" Intel MBP keeps freezing

2020 I5 16/512

Cursor/computer keeps freezing no matter what apps are running. Have done the:

NVRAM

SMC

Safe Mode

Disk Utility

Clean MyMac

All apps are up to date. Tried not running chrome as I know (?) its harder on system.

Not doing anything major, standard browsing, Excel/Teams/Etc...

This happens with multiple tabs on safari/1 tab, many apps running/3 apps running..not seeing the common causing factor.

Will freeze from 30 seconds-5 minutes.

Any help is great :)

First, uninstall CMM by following the developer's instructions. CMM is notorious for causing all sorts of problems including severely degrading system performance. If you have any other anti-virus apps, cleaning/optimizer apps, or third party security software installed, then uninstall those as well by following the developer's instructions. These types of apps are not needed on a Mac and usually causes more problems than they solve because they interfere with the normal operation of macOS.

If after uninstall these types of apps you still have the issue, then run the third party app EtreCheck and post the report here so we can see if the report has any clues to what may be occurring on your system.

Make sure to disconnect all external devices in case one of them is causing a problem.

You've installed what many here consider to be akin to malware: CleanMyMac. Cleaner One is in the same category: unnecessary and all it does is use up system resources.

First, there is no reason to ever install or run any 3rd party "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up", anti-virus, VPN or security apps on your Mac.  This documents describe what you need to know and do in order to protect your Mac: Effective defenses against malware and other threats - Apple Community and Recognize and avoid phishing messages, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support.

There are no known viruses, i.e. self propagating, for Macs.  There are, however, adware and malware which require the user to install although unwittingly most of the time thru sneaky links, etc.

Anti Virus developers try to group all types as viruses into their ad campaigns of fear.  They do a poor job of the detecting and isolating the adware and malware.  Since there are no viruses these apps use up a lot of system resources searching for what is non-existent and adversely affect system and app performance.

There is one app, Malwarebytes, which was developed by a long time contributor to these forums and a highly respected member of the computer security community, that is designed solely to seek out adware and known malware and remove it.  The free version is more than adequate for most users.

So uninstall CMM and Cleaner One according to the developers' instructions.

You can check to see if you've removed all of the supporting files by downloading and running the shareware app Find Any File to search for any files with the application's or the developer's name in the file name.  For CMM software you'd do the following search(es):

1 - Name contains cleanmymac

2 - Name contains macpaw

3 - Name contains cleaner one

Any files that are found can be dragged from the search results window to the Desktop or Trash bin in the Dock for deletion.

FAF can search areas that Spotlight can't like invisible folders, system folders and packages.

If you get warnings that the file can't be deleted because it is in use or used by another app boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and delete from there.

Note:  if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode.  This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will assure a successful boot into Safe Mode.

If the other Mac is running macOS 12.4+, then yes, you can try the "Restore". It is unfortunate that Apple has such a high macOS requirement and keeps upping it since just a year or so ago, macOS 10.15+ was the requirement. I did provide an embedded link to the Apple article with instructions in my previous post for the "Restore" process, but will place it on its own here:

Revive or restore an Intel-based Mac using Apple Configurator - Apple Support

Remember to back up any files which have changed since your previous backup.

FYI, once you perform the "Restore", you will have to use Internet Recovery Mode to reinstall macOS since it will be impossible to boot from a USB installer until macOS has been reinstalled & setup on the internal SSD.

I've seen these "ProxiedDevice-Bridge" crash reports a lot on the 2018+ models (especially the 2019 model). I believe it is a hardware issue with the T2 security chip. Since you only have Microsoft Office software installed, the only recourse left is to try a "Restore" which will reset the T2 security chip, firmware, and erase the internal SSD which will require reinstalling macOS from Internet Recovery Mode. If you still get these errors after this process, then you will need to have the laptop repaired (will be expensive unless covered by AppleCare+). Unfortunately the "Restore" operation requires access to another Mac running macOS 12.4+.

FYI, there have been reports of the Tx chips causing all sorts of issues & Kernel Panics ever since they were introduced in the iMac Pro in 2017 I believe. There are huge threads on other forums about it and I believe your "ProxiedDevice-Bridge" issues are likely connected, but unfortunately there is no real information that I can find.

Update: Removed everything, erased HD, reinstalled OS, ran Etrecheck. Still having same issues. I have noticed that it's not an entire crash now and just freezes for anywhere from 15 seconds to 15 minutes. I purchased some mini screwdrivers to play operation on the device and they arrive Monday. At this point I feel I can't hurt anything seeing the computer is borderline unusable at this point. Attached is the latest report. I really appreciate everyones help here as I love this device.
