I am trying to download my old home movies from mini DVD's to my MacBook Pro 2021. The Apple SuperDrive cannot play mini DVD's. I bought a Dell external dvd drive, I can't get my MacBook to recognize it. Is there a recommended External DVD drive to easily work with my MacBook? I have downloaded an app to transform it to a digital form my Mac will work with.

There are several problems: most drives will work IF they can play mini DVDs which they may not. Those mini DVDs were in an oldfashioned format and would mostly only play in the old camcorders.So, even if you find one that'll play a mini DVD, it may not work on your device and I don't know if there are still apps that will make the format compatible. It may work if you have a camcorder that could actually plug into a newer MBP (I have no idea if there are any).
