Sun icons turned white after updating to iOS 16.4

I have updated my iPhone 14 pro max to ios 16.4 yesterday and after this update sun icons in the apple weather app changed color to a white. They are still yellow on the screen widget, but when I open the weather app they turn white. Anyone else have this issue? I remember someone was reporting this issue with beta version of ios 16.4, but I never installed beta versions on my phone. Have to say that my ipad pro which I also updated to 16.4 does not have this issue.

Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Increase Contrast - turn off and sun icons will turn back to yellow colour.

Hello everyone! I had the same issue with 16.4.1, updated yesterday, ugly white sun icons.

I applied the fix posted above and it worked. Then I realized there is a “per app” accessibility setting at the bottom of the accessibility menu. I added weather to this, turned “increase contrast” off for weather then on in the main accessibility menu and it worked. So that “increase contrast” is on for everything but weather. Hope this helps someone.

My explanation above is more than adequate. I don't know why you have trouble understaning it. Sun icons in Apple weather app are NOT yellow as they were on iOS 16.3.1. After updating to ios 16.4 yesterday all sun icons in weather app has white colour. Do you uderstand it now? if still not, look at the screenshot.

Nevertheless, I found the reason for this. For anyone who face the same problem - this is due to Increased contrast in Accessibility settings. Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Increase Contrast - turn off and sun icons will turn back to yellow colour.

I remember when updated from iOS 15 to iOS 16 sun icons became red with increased contrast. Now they turn white. Another bug which needs to be fixed.

100% agree. I've been looking for this issue online thinking I was the only one experiencing this issue, I even spoke to my wife who didn't understand what I was talking about. Then I came across your post. Thank you for raising it. I tried the temporary solution by turning off the increased contrast, you are right it does fix the weather app, however it also affects other parts of the phone like iMessage, the colours of the blue bubbles look washed out 😔.

I really hope Apple look at this and address the issue. If there's anything else I can do to help like log it somewhere else please let me know.

To be clear, disabling Increase Contrast is a workaround, not a fix. That setting is meant to increase contrast for readability (4.5:1 for small text; 3:1 for large text) since many of Apple's stock apps aren't accessible out of the box. This is clearly a bug as it shouldn't change the sun and rain elements in the Weather app to three different colors!

For those who actually use the Increase Contrast setting, please submit feedback via the Apple Product Feedback page or Feedback Assistant. Maybe the more people who report it, the more likely it’ll be fixed!? 🤞

Thanks for the investigation and the temporary fix!

I've been looking for this issue. This is really annoying...

I do have the Increase Contrast option turned On by default. But in the Weather app... turning all the icons to white actually _decreases_ the visibility. This is so silly... why do they try to fix what's already working? I hope they revert this. I want to have increased contrast with the colorful Weather icons.
