Tab button shapes won't turn off

Hi there, the blue shapes around tabs in apps won't turn off, even if Button Shapes is turned off in the settings. Restarting doesn't help.

Hello anonymous3a7f7b8g,

It may help to try re-enabling the Button Shapes option in Settings > Display & Text Size, restart the device once more as normal, and then toggle it off again in Settings.

Be sure to also check for any available iOS updates to ensure the latest improvements are applied. The current latest version is iOS 16.4, and this page can help update if needed: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

For apps that don't appear to be working as expected it may be helpful to try forcing the app to close, and then relaunch it: Close an app on your iPhone or iPod touch - Apple Support

iPhone SE, iPhone 8 and earlier, and iPod touch
1. Double-click the Home button to show your most recently used apps.
2. Swipe right or left to find the app that you want to close.
3. Swipe up on the app's preview to close the app.

Cheers.
