Sleep Tracker Stops After Alarm Turns Off? And Only Tracks Some Naps?

I saw someone else ask this exact question and the answer didn’t seem helpful. My mom’s Apple Watch tracks her naps and even will start tracking ”sleep” when she’s just resting on the couch.

Many times my alarm will go off and I’ll turn it off and go back to sleep. Sometimes it keeps tracking sometimes it doesn’t. And it has nothing to do with “sleep mode” or any mode at all because sometimes it’s off but other times like this morning, I turned off the alarm turned my sleep mode back on and slept another two hours. But my sleep tracker stopped right after I turned of the alarm.

I don’t think you can call it a sleep tracker if it doesn’t always track your sleep? What’s the answer here because all I’ve seen is someone saying “how to control sleep mode” and again I don’t think it has anything to do with “sleep mode” because days when I fall asleep on the couch at say 8pm and wake up at 9:30pn it will start to track my sleep (but only sometimes ??) and my sleep mode isn’t on.

I really got this watch for the health tracking, workouts, etc so it’s very frustrating when it says I didn’t hit my 8 hour sleep goal knowing I slept 9.5 hours

I had the same frustration and I found a solution : if you disable your sleep schedule and just use regular alarms then it does track your sleep until you actually get up
